Description:For over half a century, Population Studies has reported significant advances in methods of demographic analysis, conceptual and mathematical theories of demographic dynamics and behaviour, and the use of these theories and methods to extend scientific knowledge and to inform policy and practice. The Journal’s coverage of this field is comprehensive: applications in developed and developing countries; historical and contemporary studies; quantitative and qualitative studies; analytical essays and reviews. The subjects of papers range from classical concerns, such as the determinants and consequences of population change, to such topics as family demography and evolutionary and genetic influences on demographic behaviour. Often the Journal’s papers have had the effect of extending the boundaries of its field.

The 'moving wall' represents the time period between the last issueavailable in JSTOR and the most recently published issue of a journal.Moving walls are generally represented in years. In rare instances, apublisher has elected to have a 'zero' moving wall, so their currentissues are available in JSTOR shortly after publication.Note: In calculating the moving wall, the current year is not counted. For example, if the current year is 2008 and a journal has a 5 yearmoving wall, articles from the year 2002 are available. Terms Related to the Moving Wall Fixed walls: Journals with no new volumes being added to the archive. Absorbed: Journals that are combined with another title.

Since casualty rates among officers were higher than those among men in the ranks, the social elites from which officers were largely recruited suffered disproportionately heavy losses. Working-class casualties were more numerous, but they were lighter proportionately, because many workers were excluded from the army and navy to work in war industries. In addition, once in uniform, workers were less likely than their social superiors to be passed fit for combat duty, and until late in the war were excluded from the officer corps. As a result, the most severely depleted social groups in the 1914-18 war were the most privileged, whose marriage patterns in the immediate post-war period were distorted by the absence of marriageable men. The concept of a `lost generation' of social elites who fell in the war is, therefore, not a myth, but rather a legend which had a basis in fact, but which took on a life of its own in the inter-war years as a justification of class privilege.

Europe 1910 HistoricPlayable countries:8NPC countries:12Free:No, only available for GoldroundsThe historic scenario is a map with the historically correct borders of 1910. It is essentially the same map as, but with new borders to represent as accurately as possible those of the year 1910.

For instance, if Belgium controlled The Netherlands and Switzerland in, all three are separate NPC countries in Europe 1910 Historic.Nations both differ in size and population. Production of a province is, in contrast to the standard scenario, dependant on the population of the province.

This map is highly unbalanced even in the initial setup of the troops reflecting the very different military strength of the nations of that time. The German Empire leads the Central powers being the strongest country on the map but is off-set by its ally Bulgaria which is the weakest. The Entente countries are much more balanced, being roughly equally strong. The central powers can take advantage of being close to each other, while the Entente is divided with Russia fighting its own front. Nevertheless, the teams are balanced, and victory is only determined by skill and team-work.This map can only be played with the scenario teams as either the Entente (Britain, France, Italy, Russia) or the Central Powers (German Empire, Austria-Hungary, Ottoman Empire, Bulgaria). Europe 1910 is only available as an optional feature for Goldrounds.A full-sized layout of the map can be found.
